2024-2025 Confirmation Requirements
Weekly Mass Attendance & Mass Notes
- Attend Mass every weekend & on Holy Days of Obligation
- Complete 12 Mass notes
- Two per month; November through April (Six months)
- Submit Confirmation Mass Notes Here
Service Hours
- Complete 12 service hours throughout the year & short reflections for each event.
- Additionally, we will have one sponsor & candidate night where an additional service project will take place, as a group—Scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 22nd
- Different types of hours are asked: service to the parish, service to the community & Eucharistic hours.

Youth Group
- Attend once a month from November through April (Six months)
- Wednesdays after Confirmation, from 7:45-9:30 p.m.
- Check-in with Jake & keep track each time you come!
- Join the Confirmation GroupMe Discussion Group to stay up-to-date!
Sponsor
- May not be a parent. The sponsor, representing the entire community of believers, undertakes the role of assisting the parents in their role of raising children in the faith.
- May not have more than one sponsor.
- Must be a baptized Catholic who has been confirmed.
- Must be a practicing Catholic who “leads a life in harmony with the faith and the role to be undertaken” (Canon 874).
- Must be sufficiently mature for the role; older than 16 years of age, unless Fr. Paul determines exceptions should/can be made.
- If sponsor is unable to attend the ceremony, a parent may sit in as a proxy.
- Please, have “Sponsor Information” Sheet in by Wednesday, December 4th.
Saint Name
- As you prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation you are asked to choose a Confirmation Saint as your patron/patroness.
- At your Confirmation you will be confirmed using this name. You may choose your Baptismal name, select a name from the Bible, or a canonized saint of the Catholic Church.
- The Saint you choose should reflect a devotion you have to the Saint, virtues or gifts to which you aspire, or the patron Saint of certain gifts that are dear to you.
- 1. Read and learn about several Saints and their lives before making your choice. You can choose a Saint of either gender.
- 2. Pray about the Saint you are considering.
- 3. Your teacher will approve your selection of a Saint before you complete the report to verify the Saint exists.
- Please, have “Confirmation Saint Name” in by Wednesday, February 5th.
Bishop Letter
- Candidates are to write a letter to Most Rev. Bishop Chad Zielinski prior to the fall of Confirmation.
- This letter is for the candidates to express their commitment and readiness to live out their baptismal promises as well as simply providing the Bishop a chance to get to know more about each candidate & their family!
- Bishop Zielinski will read all of the letters prior to coming to celebrate the Confirmation Mass.
- Some things to include:
- Your Confirmation Saint name & Why you chose the Saint you did
- Your faith, home and family life
- Anything else you want to tell him
- Please, have Bishop Letter in by Friday, August 1st.
Retreat Component
- Candidates are asked to make a retreat type experience within their final year of preparation.
- St. Anastasia offers the following experiences that would fulfill this component:
- Attend a TOTAL of FOUR of the following nights:
- COR Nights in Olivia, MN (Dec. 15 & Feb. 23)
- Service & Lifeline Nights (Dec. 7, Jan. 11, Mar. 1, Apr. 5)
- Mission Week Experience (June 22-27, 2025)
- Totus Tuus (July 2025)
- Attend a TOTAL of FOUR of the following nights:

- 1st Sunday of Advent—Sunday, December 1st at the 9:00 a.m. Mass
- Pledge of Deeper Commitment
- 1st Sunday of Lent—Sunday, March 9th at the 9:00 a.m. Mass
Sacramental Records
- If your child was baptized at a different location and those records have never been sent to St. Anastasia…
- And you already have a copy of your Baptismal record, simply copy and bring in or send to the address, below or email to [email protected]
- If you do not have a copy, contact that parish and have them issue a copy of that record.
- Drop off or have mailed to the office, “Attention: Youth Minister.”
